Participant Segments

What are Participant Segments?

Participant Segments are a way to add the attributes of participants you want to talk to into an easy-to-apply segment to use for your study. All to help speed up the shortlisting process!

Where to find Participant Segments

Participant Segments can be found within the Plan step of a study (draft and published).

How to use Participant Segments

Segment matching

Once your study has been published and your segments created:

  1. In the Add existing candidates section, look for the dropdown arrow next to Browse Candidates. Click on the button and choose the segment that you want to filter by.
    1. If you already have some participants shortlisted, click on Add Candidates at the top right of the Participants section.
  2. Select Add from Segment # (or the name of the segment, if changed).
  3. In the Add existing candidates modal that opens, note the Segment matches only toggle.
    1. To remove the requirement for participants to match the segment, switch the toggle to off.
    2. To cancel this process and choose another segment, click on the X above the scroll bar to close the modal and start with step 2 again.
  4. Review the participants shown and check the ones that you want to apply.
  5. Click Shortlist to study.
  6. When ready, follow the steps for the rest of the participant management flow (Survey study guide used as an example. Review the other Participant Management for Study Type guides for their respective steps 😉).

FAQs

  1. Are participants that match my segment supposed to automatically be added when I publish my study?
    1. Not at this time, but this is an improvement we are looking in to.
  2. How do I know if there are no candidates that match the segment's parameters?
    1. At this time, you can review the results when applying the segment.
  3. What is the difference between regular candidate segments and participant segments?
    1. Participant Segments are study specific and not currently saved outside the study they are created in.
    2. Regular segments are groups of filters that can be applied in the Candidates page. More on those here.
